I was reminded this weekend as my wife and I attended the memorial service of a 94-year-old long-time friend of the Emery family that LEGACY does have value.
I always intend for my blogs to instruct, challenge or encourage: This blog I hope will accomplish all three.
Harold Bowyer (the 94-year-old family friend) went home to be with his heavenly Father last week and as we attended his service I could not help but be challenged as I listened and observed his family and friends speak so highly of him as a committed follower of Jesus, a loving husband, father, grandfather, man of integrity, strength and so on.
What hit me so directly is that few of us will truly be great LEADERS, but all of us will, without doubt, spend our entire lives in relationships with many people and in turn, we will be directly influencing all those we interact with. The popular Christian song by Casting Crowns entitled “Only Jesus” very adequately expresses: “All the kingdoms built, all the trophies won, will crumble into dust when it’s said and done. But all that really matters, Did I live the truth to the ones I love, was my life the proof that there is only one whose name will last forever”
My friends, you and I are leaving a LEGACY!!
In what direction are we influencing? Mothers, Fathers, Grandparents, Aunts, Uncles, Teachers, Coaches, Coworkers, Neighbors: Let your light SHINE, Let your flavor enhance and let’s leave a LEGACY worth following.
Be encouraged, my friends,
